Customizing maps on Managing News

We swapped out the main map in Managing News for hillshade tiles, since geography and isolation have a large influence on the news in Afghanistan and Pakistan. In this case, base layer maps really matter.

 

We also uploaded a custom geo taxonomy so we can tag key places like Peshawar, Swat, and Waziristan that don't normally make it onto geo tagging lists.
