Loyalsock Canyon Vista, Pennsylvania
It was only 34 degrees this morning with a breeze making it feel much colder. At one point I was having a hard time feeling my hands to capture these moments. Nonetheless it was a magical time as I had these expansive mountain views all to myself as the sun began to rise.
Loyalsock Canyon Vista is the most famous view in Worlds End State Park. This sweeping overlook will give you a view of the Loyalsock Creek carving its way through the valley and the park’s day use area far below. The rolling Endless Mountains stretch as far as the eye can see. endlessmountains.org/directory/loyalsock-canyon-vista/
Following its extensive clearcutting by loggers in the early 20th century, Worlds End State Park has successfully regenerated into a dense "second growth" forest. The area was restored with help from the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930s and has since become a protected natural area offering rugged beauty and extensive recreation.
This area is surrounded by the 114,552-acre Loyalsock State Forest.
(This was actually captured at 7:18 am...reminding me I need to adjust my camera time.)
