FIELD OF DREAMS
.
Whisper quiet through summer rain
The field lay vibrant, thirst now quenched
And through the silence of her pain
A heart so pure in turmoil, wrenched
Fingers tense and mind unclear
How the thoughts like leaves now swirled
A woman's worldliness and fears
Hid within the frightened girl
Love betrayed by callous deeds
No thoughts for her amidst the act
Spurned, the lover, now hearts bleed
Deceit and lies to cover facts
As memories like fluffy clouds
Began to cross her furtive mind
Softly tears fell, cries aloud
Forgiveness she could never find
The field of dreams lay baron, scorched
Mascara mixed with tears of salt
The flame had died on loves great torch
To move on now, she knew she ought
And in the gentle field she lay
Pondering how fate so cruel
Could leave her battered, bruised this way
The victim ever feels the fool
Summer showers overhead
Blue green eyes of steel resolve
No man could rule by things he'd said
Around him she would not revolve
Bowed, unbeaten there she rose
And swore, determination strong
Life, the journey, pathways chose
She would survive despite his wrongs

Photograph taken at 13:40pm on July 2nd 2012 off Main Road A20 near the famous Lion pub in the centre of Farningham village, past the old wooden bridge that spans the River Darent in Farningham, Dartford, England.
Many thanks to a remarkable woman and my good friend Mandy Frost for her patience in braving the iminent July rain showers.
