A LIFE IN CHAINS (Original frame)
.
Safely bound, they lock us in
Warding danger from within
Chains that hold us from our youth
We try to fight but there's no use.
We're shackled, tethered, held, restrained
Fighting rules, we feel the pain
Rebellion rises from the ranks
Who fight the cause for little thanks
You're owned from warmth within the womb
To woodworm casket, death and gloom
What's in between you try to fight
Your life is mapped as day and night
Pay your taxes, go to work
Have your kids and never shirk
Two week trip is your vacation
Automaton, stagnant nation
Don't ask questions, not your place
Walk the walk and live with grace
Be grateful for the scraps they throw
Your place tomorrow no one knows
Chains they bind you by the hands
The feet and throat, the happy glands
You're just a number, just a fool
Another in this bland gene pool
Manacled and bound by fear
You live the life and shed the tears
Subservient in every way
Pretend you're not if lies you play
A life of chains is what we're given
By sex and love and hope we're driven
Onwards to the promised land
The doors are closed and you've been banned
Your name's not on the gold guest list
No angels touch no special kiss
Life for you is full of pain
As you begin to feel those chains
But rest assured and sleep at night
You're not alone in this lost fight
Society owns your very soul
live long, have fun, make those your goals
