Photograph taken at an altitude of Six metres around sunrise at 06:08am on Tuesday 23rd May 2023 off Lochside Drive and Ferguson Road at Saanichton Bay Park in Central Saanich area of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.

 

 

The Tsawout people are a member of the Sencot'en Alliance and one of five bands of the Saanich Nation, along with Tsartlip, Tseycum, Malahat and Pauquachin. In the 1850s they were signatories to the Douglas Treaties and they speak the SENĆOŦEN language. Nick Claxton was chief until April 2021 when Harvey Underwood was elected as his replacement. In January 2023 there qwer around 1600 inhabitants of which one third were Tsawout First Nations people.
