Photograph taken at an altitude of Four metres at 12:50pm on Thursday 11th November 2021 off the Western Esplanade and West Cliff Road on the shoreline of Louisa Bay in Broadstairs, Kent. The seven bays in Broadstairs consist of: (From south to north) Dumpton Gap, Louisa Bay, Viking Bay, Stone Bay, Joss Bay, Kingsgate Bay and Botany Bay.

 

 

The Herring gull (Larus argentatus) is the largest gull in the United Kingdom measuring up to twenty six inches in length. They are omnivorous and have a wingspan up to 150cm and can weigh up to 1440g. In the UK there are 140,000 breeding pairs and around 740,000 wintering birds, but they are sadly on the UK Red conservation status with dwindling number over the years.

 

 

We left around 9am for the hour or so 70 mile drive down the A2 to Viking bay, first stop a full English breakfast at the pub there overlooking the beach. Then time for a stroll along the beach on a cloudy day surrounded by Mother Nature, a tonic for the soul.
