"Friday 25th [December 1874] Christmas Day: Fine warm day. Pretty good sleighing. Rode to church with Paddy, his mother and Mary. Called at Joseph's going out. The two girls went with us. Paid mother $5.00 Dollars."

 

"Saturday 26th: Fine day quite warm. Drawed wood from Griffins woods with Tim & Art Callighans teams that I bought from M. Kerby. Kerby at house for supper. I paid him $6 75/100 for 4 1/2 cords that I drawed that day. Paddy went to station house for Ellen & got home about 3 OClock."

 

"Sunday 27th: Fine day, poor sleighing. Went to church with Paddy. Staid at Josephs for dinner. Mary quite sick."

 

"Monday 28th: Dark day, rained some. Michael Thomas & Mary J. Barrett come to house. The 2 boys went to P. Brennans after 2 heifers & 1 bull. Staid at house and fed cattle. Had super & all went to P. Hashes ball. Paid for the boys. Got home at 7 OClock in the morning."
