Column Shred (Christian Andersson)
""Appearances can be deceiving. These classical columns, at the gallery’s entrance, might appear hewn from marble, but are actually made of paper.
In Column Shred (2015), Christian Andersson (1973) creates a classic trompe l’oeil effect (optical illusion). It is the shadow drawn on six hanging floor-to-ceiling prints in particular, that make the illusion of colossal volumes so convincing.
Although the work has a two-dimensional structure, the artist plays with the third dimension both in drawing as well as in space. This creates a stage for the viewer in which Christian can write his story.""
