Matsumoto Castle (松本城, Matsumoto-jō), Matsumoto City, Nagano, Japan

Once you have climbed up to top of the Castle, you have to go down the same way, using the same series of steep stairs on your socks. Sometimes it was quite a challenge, like this one from the Fourth floor, which has the castle’s steepest staircase, at 61 degrees and steps 40 cm tall. It is also the only two-way staircase.

So standing on the 5th floor, looking down…..you see this ;-))

Perhaps you wonder what happend to the Third Floor……

Info from the brochure:

~~The 3th floor a kind of attic to the second floor, is called "Hidden Floor" or "Dark Floor", because there are no windows. The lack of windows made the Main Tower appear to have five floors instead of six.~~

Matsumoto Castle (松本城 Matsumoto-jō), Matsumoto City, Nagano, is the oldest existing castle in Japan and one of Japan’s premier historic castles. It also known as the “Crow Castle” (烏城 Karasu-jō) because of its black exterior.

It is listed as a National Treasure of Japan.
