The German Ocean Liner "Kaiser Friedrich" was meant to compete for the infamous blue ribbon. After not reaching the promised speed, it eventually was sold to France, renamed SS "Burdigala" and later seized by the french Navy, who used the ship as a Troop Transpoerter in WW1. It hit a mine in 1916 in Kea channel, actually the same minefield as the HMHS "Britannic", and sank. It is a huge wreck, full of artifacts and sealife, and a tremendous memorial.
