Allocated to 224 Sqn, and delivered to Gibraltar on 05.10.54. Coded B.

 

‘Special fitment ’installations made in February, June and July in 1955.

 

Flown to 49MU Colerne 28.09.56 for additional modifications. Completed 11.10.56. WR963 returned to Gibraltar. Recorded M in 1956.

 

Further modifications 19.10.57 to 11.11.57.

 

Returned to AVRO on 09.03.59 for Phase I modernisation and completed 18.02.60.

 

Allocated to 210 Sqn 23.02.60 and coded Z.

 

Allocated to DH Chester (Hawarden) 15.03.61 for Phase II update. Completed 16.11.61.

 

Delivered to 38 Sqn 23.11.61 and coded X.

 

Allocated to 205 Sqn 14.01.66 and coded A.

 

Returned to Hawker Siddeley Aviation (HSA), Langar in August 1966 for Phase III modification. Completed 19.07.67. Returned to 205 Sqn. 01.08.67 and coded H.

 

Returned To UK to 5MU 17.12.70 for storage until delivered to HAS at Bitteswell 30.06.71 for AEW.2 conversion.

 

Returned to 5MU 02.06.72 for repainting.

 

Delivered to Lossiemouth 18.07.72 for AEW radar installation and allocated to 8 Sqn the following day.

 

Transferred to Kinloss 01.08.72 where named ‘Ermintrude’.

 

Returned to Lossiemouth with unit 16.08.73. Renamed ‘Parsley’.

 

Flown to 60MU for modification 10 to 19.03.75 and HAS Bitteswell 01.03.76 for major servicing and wing re-spar.

 

Returned to 8 Sqn 13.05.77 Cat.3 damage sustained 10.08.79. Repaired by HSA contractors working party.

 

WR963 returning to 8 Sqn charge 29.10.79. Hours flown 14,957 hours at 09.03.89

 

Privately purchased and transferred to Coventry Airport 1991 at the end of it’s service career.
