Family Gathering

Our local pond very rarely passes a year when our resident pair of swans don't hatch a good clutch of eggs and proudly present a brood of cygnets to us all. The local community then have the privilege of watching them grow from tiny grey feather-balls to almost fully grown adults, and share the upbringing with food, care and protection. But when late winter gives way to Spring, when wings are strong and after all the noisy flight training has taken place from one side of the pond to the other, over one or two days the parents chase them and they 'fly the nest', never to return.

 

Then the Delph Pond cycle begins all over again...
