The Butterfly House

I took this with my phone while photographing the oystercatcher. If you'd like to live here (I sure know I would), it's kind of a good news / bad news situation. The good news is that the property is available. The bad news is the asking price is $40 million. But then again, you don't have to pay it all at once. With 20% downpayment and a 6.5% loan, it's just $202,262/mo (excluding taxes and insurance) spread over thirty years. And on top of that, it has been listed for 163 days, so maybe they're willing to bargain:) The Butterfly House (1951), Carmel-by-the-Sea, California.

Note (8.29.23): You snooze you lose. Sold recently at the bargain price of $29 million.

Note (1.9.24): Whoops, I just realized this is actually the house next door to the Butterfly House, which was built by the same architect.
