The Many Faces of Mount Rainier

We finally walked the Wonderland Trail this summer. In the past the logistics of getting permits or other plans seemed to get in the way. But with this summer's scramble it seemed to be the right time. We managed to get walk up permits for the trail the day before we started. This meant we had to take remaining available campsites as the ranger could arrange them, and the itinerary he worked out ended up being a very leisurely eight days to complete the 93 mile circuit. Most day's walking could be completed comfortably by around lunch time, which left lots of time for lingering and side trips. In the end I took so many photos of Mount Rainier from so many different angles that I'm not really sure how to approach them. This was from our first day, not far out of Longmire. Indian Henry's historic ranger cabin (5300'), on the Wonderland Trail, Mount Rainier.
