All Bundled Up

On my (surprisingly chilly) ride today I stopped at snake heaven to see if I could spot the first tanager of the season. Spring birds are arriving but the weather has been unseasonably cool. It has been very rainy, which is not that unusual, but the lows have often been in the 30s, which is pretty odd for May. I didn't see any tanagers, so as I often do, I ended up taking pictures of the snakes, which were trying to squeeze some warmth out of the sun between passing clouds. Puget Sound garter snake, Olympia, Washington.

Note (11:00AM): It is hailing hard (!)
