Are there any old cyclists out there that remember "The Alpha" (circa 1958)
This was a great "Cyclists Cafe" on the A11 road north of Woodford Green in Essex. A regular stop for many local racing cyclists at the end of their various training routes.
We would all enjoy the good humoured rivalry banter between the various local clubs.
There was no nastiness, no thoughts of violence. All the expensive racing bikes were piled up outside. Nobody ever had their bike nicked. It was a totally different era, now sadly all gone.
