"The Alpha Cafe" Late 1950s
Does any old cyclists out there in Flickrland remember this popular cyclist's café on Epping New Road which was the old A11 near Buckhurst Hill, Essex.
It was "the" place for racing cyclists to meet up for a bit of banter at the finish of their various training runs
There was no nastiness, no thoughts of violence. All the expensive racing bikes were piled up outside, and on the forecourt of the garage next door. Nobody ever had their bike nicked. It was a totally different era, now sadly all gone
The whole area was later re-developed, and is now a housing estate..
Taken with a Zeiss Contina 35mm camera om Kodak Plus X film, home processed.
