Kenya, young Maasai student in primary school

Black & White portrait of a young Maasai student in a primary community school of a remote Maasai village near Amboseli National Park, Kenya.

Also Maasai children have to go to school, well at least in theory. Beginning of January the first term of the school just started, and the teachers were a bit stressed out because half the school was empty and they had to go from family to family to convince the parents that the children have to go to school. But the teachers assured me in a couple of weeks everything would be back to normal - whatever "normality" means for a remote community school of the Massai tribe.

Interestingly in January only the children of community schools had to go to school, because the teachers of the public school in Kenya were on strike. They demanded salary increases of between 200 and 300 percent.
