Cirque in soleil 2

The Netherlands - IJmuiderslag

Last month I encountered lots of Spindle shrubs (Euonymus europaeus - Wilde kardinaalsmuts), totally covered with tough, silken tents of the Spindle ermine (Yponomeuta cagnagella - Kardinaalsmutsstippelmot). They are part of a group of closely related species that are morphologically extremely difficult to distinguish. So, the identification is only an assumption. Anyhow, it was fascinating to watch them busy as circus performers, in and outside their spinnings. © Tom Kisjes
