Self-Portrait Holiday Photo -- Part VIII, Post-Production
Earlier I made a reference to "fixing it in post". This used to be an
old joke when I was a stunt woman
back in the day. There is a lot you can do in post-production - you can
add or take away sound, you can add dramatic music, you can edit, do
CGI, all kinds of things to "fix" what at the times looks like it might
not be good enough.
Well, suffice it to say, I had a lot of post-production work ahead of
me. After sweating for over 2 hours in a full-length latex dress, I
hadn't even begun to the really hard work.
Thanks to the wonderful and expert advice of this very talented guy,
Eric Jeschke , I was able to
completely replace my ugly bed sheet background and put what appears to
be a photo studio mottled blue background. Doesn't it make a phenomenal
difference? This is the vision I had from the start. It took me about an
hour to follow Eric's tutorial, but about 4 solid hours to make the
image mask. That meant zooming into the photo at about 800X its normal
size and going over every inch of my body, pixel by pixel, saving often.
I'm proud as hell of this result, and now you know the same tricks of
the trade. I could have probably just gone to Sears and paid $19.95, but
what fun would that have been?
