Slack Water

Under normal conditions, the Assiniboine River is a slow, meandering waterway, but recent rains (and snow to the west) has resulted in a more turbulent flow.

 

This male wood duck found a place to rest in more slack water near shore. The early morning light was sublime today, but there is more rain in the forecast for the rest of the weekend :(
