A Stichbird (Notiomystis cincta) or Hihi on Tiritiri Matangi Island. The Stichbird became extinct on the New Zealand mainland by 1885 and only a small population survived on Little Barrier Island. Today, there are only 500-1000 adults, located primarily on island reserves.
