Strobist on Park Avenue

Taken last weekend during my trip to Arches National Park. This is in a portion of the park called "Park Avenue" because of the high sandstone cliffs in close proximity to each other. Arches has some of the coolest looking Juniper trees. These trees look way better dead than alive IMHO. The sun was behind me and behind another sandstone cliff shading this gnarly tree so what's a photographer to do... use the lessons from the Strobist about overpowering/matching sunlight.

I have a similar shot, in which I like the composition of the valley better, but I prefer the lighting on the tree/boulder in this shot. I'll post the other shot at a later date.

Strobist Info: Canon 550EX Full Power Camera right, triggered via Pocket Wizard Plus II on a voice activated light stand.
