Cooperative Fishing

American white pelicans tend to fish cooperatively. I think that this image demonstrates it very clearly. They paddle along, herding fish in front of them, then they tip into the water at the same time. to pretty reliably use their pouches to scoop up little fish. (I've seen them catch fish up to around 16-inches).

 

After the scoop, which you see here, they re-form, paddle a little ways and then tip in again.
