NGC 918 - LRGB

NGC 918 (UGC 1888, PGC 9236 and others) is an AGN galaxy located approximately 53 million light-years away in Aries. Our view is impacted by MBM 8, a cloud of IFN illuminated by our galaxy, approximately 650 light-years away. Several denser areas can also be found in the Planck Galactic Cold Clump (PGCC) catalog.

 

Luminance – 18x1800s – 540 minutes – binned 1x1

RGB – 6x600s – 60 minutes each – binned 2x2

 

720 minutes total exposure – 12 hours

 

Imaged on October 23rd, 24th and 25th, 2017 from Dark Sky New Mexico at Rancho Hidalgo (Animas, New Mexico) with a SBIG ST-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT90EDT at f/6.7 603mm.
