UGC 3697 - LRGB

UGC 3697 (GB 1, the Integral Sign Galaxy and others) is an edge-on spiral with warped arms located approximately 151 million light-years away in Camelopardalis. Scientists believe the warping is the result of interaction with a dwarf galaxy.

 

UGC 3714 is the round spiral below and to the left (east) of UGC 3697. It is located approximately 140 million light-years away.

 

Luminance – 24x600s – 240 minutes – binned 1x1

RGB – 8x300s – 40 minutes each – binned 2x2

 

360 minutes total exposure – 6 hours

 

Imaged January 29th and 30th, 2017 from Dark Sky New Mexico at Rancho Hidalgo (Animas, New Mexico) with a SBIG STF-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT12RCT at f/8 2432mm.
