Jieun's Dad's side

So another night we meet up with Jieun's father's side of the family. But wait, let me back up a bit.

That morning, we go to Onnuri English service, which the vast majority of Korean-Americans go to when they're in Seoul. I dunno, but for some reason I hyped it way up in my mind, and I think I overhyped it, because it was just OK. They did the Korean thing of making newcomers stand and having everyone stare at them.

The thing that distracted me was the worship leader had a fairly noticeable accent that came through in the songs we were singing. Like, we're singing Not To Us, and he's singing lines like "de uneeburse, speening and speening... your children dencing dencing dencing" I dunno, I'm wrong but it was killing me.

We also found out about the head pastor's cancer surgery and that made me really sad. I actually attended the Korean service with my aunt last time I was in Korea and there was something really peaceful about his countenance. I dunno, he seems like a great man.

OK, so after church we went to meet them for dinner, some traditional Korean meal with a bunch of courses, wholly unlike any Korean meal I've had before. Even the cousins weren't totally familiar with it. Anyway, wasn't very good. Heavy on the dduk, just kind of weird tasting all around. Not a fan.

After that we go to the Starbucks where we have a Green Tea Frappucino, which is delicious, and a sweet potato pie, also delicious.

Jieun's two family sides are extremely different, which was interesting to me. But probably not to you.
