Golden Tesserae [Explored]
Tesserae are small fragments of colored or gold-leaf glass fragments used in a mosaic. The colored glass is made with the addition of metal dyes. The gold glass is made by applying gold leaf to one side of glass and then blowing a thin layer of glass over the gold leaf. Different shades of gold, are made by adding different dyes to the glass over the leaf. The gold tesserae in the mosaics have different textures, made from smooth and rough glass, both of which catch and reflect the light in unique ways.
