Perfection

 

I thought I tried to be perfect for you

then I realized I was perfecting myself

trying to reach your total acceptance

living beyond unconditional love

 

I can be unconditional, I thought

I can accept you for what you are

I can forgive, forget, hope

but I can't make you follow those concepts

 

I have to let you journey to your own perfection

even if that path takes you away from my trail

I realized I was just more debris, wreckage,

trash in your pilgrimage to your ultimate self

 

I have come to the actualization that

if I loved you unconditionally

I can not judge your actions

I can't say I was right and you were wrong

 

I can only look back, and love

I can only look forward and wish the best

I can only see your spirit

and realize, we are both perfection
