Chalmit (Davis) GR70
One of the first lanterns I acquired was this GR70 dating to 1993. This lantern was made after Chalmit lighting took over the previously Davis made design. This lantern is marked as such: Chalmit (Davis Range) GR70. In later years the design was marketed by yet another manufacturer, this time by Whitecroft Road & Tunnel Lighting (WRTL).
The lamp run is a 70w SONT and photocell a Haromarkt S90 with clear cone.
One of Plymouth's most popular lanterns, these were installed in huge numbers during 1993-1995. Although they are now replaced due to 'old fashioned' magnetic gear and basic optics, they are one of the most successful lanterns ever fitted.
