GEC Z8526

The Z8526 lantern is GEC's competitor to the popular Thorn Alpha 3; both available in the 1970s. In Plymouth, the Alpha 3 was by far the winner, and numbers of the GEC were never substantial.

This example is an earlier version, and sports the blue painted canopy and bowl with white painted spot. Later models had an unpainted canopy and bowl with refractor grooves.

Dating from 1974, the lantern has always run a Sodium lamp.

Plymouth only retains 2 examples as of 2011.
