Y Road Interchange
Setting off the Chessie System interchange freight at Keymar in the summer 1981. The at-grade crossing is Y Road and the Maryland Midland's trackage is only the old Frederick Branch of the PRR. The Western Maryland's East Sub mainline is still a part of the Chessie System and is in service from Hagerstown to Westminster at this point. Maryland DOT would acquire this portion on October 1, 1983-the exact day that the Western Maryland would lose it's corporate existence and be folded into the B&O, and MDOT would designate the Maryland Midland as the operator. Both lines have since been acquired by the Maryland Midland from MDOT. The Whitcomb has moved on to yet another railroad in Ohio. 102 was acquired from the defunct East Washington Railway in 1978.
