David Travis says: Assignment 5: "Weather" I love the Northern lights and the starfield in this shot.

David Travis says: Assignment 8: "Ingredients for a Recipe" This one pips it for me because it adds a dynamic to what is fundamentally a dull and static subject.

David Travis says: Assignment 9: "CD Cover" This is a really evocative environmental shot. The wings on the singer make you look and wonder where it's meant to be set. The post processing is just right for the subject.

David Travis says: Assignment 11: "Close Up and Personal!" At first peek, this looks like an X-Ray. In fact, it's a close-up of a needle in a sewing machine. Great focus on the needle.

David Travis says: Assignment 12: "Simple One Light Portrait for an Arts Magazine" Exquisite lighting that matches the contemplative mood of the shot.

David Travis says: Assignment 13: "Let's Pour a Beer" I like the frosting on the glass of this shot and the image has been treated gently in post processing, so it looks very natural. The background colour really complements the colour of the beer and there's a nice glow from inside the glass.

David Travis says: Assignment Fourteen: "A Lifestyle Picnic". I think this ticked all the boxes on this assignment and used a couple of engaging models in a great context.

David Travis says: Assignment Fifteen: "A gardening shot". This is an unusual crop that I would never think of doing, but it works perfectly. It's a good example of how you can break the rules of composition -- centred subject, head chopped off -- yet come up with a striking image.

David Travis says: Assignment 16: "Sports". Awesome lighting and a great, atmospheric portrait. It looks like it came straight out of a magazine. Excellent compositing too.

David Travis says: Assignment 18: "Asset list and self assignment" A fabulous headshot. Your eyes bounce between the red lips, the red in the flag/scarf and her eyes -- which are incredibly sharp.

David Travis says: Assignment 19: "Hot". This is one in a series of fun, storytelling shots from StillBill3.

David Travis says: Assignment 20: "A product shot with a twist". Better known as the "eggs" assignment, there were some wonderful entries here. Bur Irene's shot of quail eggs pipped it for me. It has a striking graphical layout that goes well with the text and the eggs themselves have great texture and colour.

David Travis says: Assignment 21: "Hair Salon Shoot" This was a difficult assignment because the focus needed to be on the hair and not the model. I thought this was a great entry and I could easily see this as a large poster in a hair salon.
