Rodeo Rider
Competitive barrel racing at the Lil'wat Nation Open Rodeo is one of the rodeo’s fastest and most popular events. It is an event primarily for women. Skilled riders on fast athletic horses blaze through a clover leaf pattern around three barrels. A five-second penalty is assessed for each barrel that is tipped over, effectively knocking the rider out of the money.
Situated on traditional and unceded territory of the L̓il̓wat7úl (Lil'Wat) people in a spectacular northwest-coast mountain sanctuary near the First Nations community of Mount Currie, British Columbia.
