Part of my cancer series.
When I went through treatment I didn't want to make friends with people with cancer, because when I was 7 my best friend died from cancer. It was hard to see this happen to a child and I didn't want to see any one else I cared about go through it. Years after treatment I started going to the Creative Center which offered free art classes for people with cancer. That's when I started making friends with people who had cancer. Some of them passed away but I'm glad to have met them. Sometimes the world can seem like a better place because of the good people you meet along the way. I think it would have been better for me to have done that earlier. Cancer can get easier when there's people around. Your not alone if you choose not to be. There's lots of good charities out there looking to help.
