Old Kilpatrick Bowling Parish Church
This building may be the third to have been built on this site and as such has a wonderfully interesting graveyard. The previous church on this site was a building of some antiquity, and by the early years of the 19th century was in such a state of disrepair that the minister refused to conduct services there.
The present 1812 building (with additions in 1897) was designed in a semi-classical and Neo-Gothic style. It's distinctive clock tower with blue dial is a landmark for miles around.
In the photograph, the area that is fenced off, in front of the left-hand side of the church, is The Auchentoshan Enclosure dated 1666. The kirkyard also contains a number of other ancient and interesting monuments.
