CS Lunar Lorry Film

Llwyngwril Systems designed the Lunar Lorry as an amphibious vehicle to be used in locations such as the Sea of Tranquility. Particular attention was paid to salt water performance and corrosion resistance. This was despite the fact that it had been known for centuries that the Moon's "seas" were devoid of water. When later questioned about the lorry's design, the notorious Vehicle Design Department just smirked and ran away giggling.

The Lunar Lorries proved useful for transporting large, heavy objects around the planet. A typical load was the Power Functions IR receiver and AAA battery pack seen here. The lorry employed a skid-steer design which was never particularly effective. After a short service life, the Lunar Lorries had their power plants and other equipment removed and were used as static displays at events promoting the lunar life.

I'm not quite sure why it doesn't work. I think that it's to do with the difference in the friction between the tyres and floor and force needed to bend the worm/cog combination out of form, which allows it to slip.
