ORIGAMI Launcher
As all spacemen know, exploring the outer reaches of the galaxy used to involve filling in mountains of forms and other paperwork. This generated huge quantities of recycled paper and as spacemen only ate food pills, their need for toilet tissue was somewhat limited. Llwyngwril Space Systems saw an opportunity in this problem and its designers came up with the first ever spacecraft to be built from compressed paper.
The Outer-space Recycled Intermediate Ground-launched Aerial Manned Interceptor or ORIGAMI was rumoured to have had a larger design team working on the acronym than on the actual spacecraft. Llwyngwril Space Systems' Chief Designer denied other rumours circulating in the press that he had copied the design from a paper dart, thrown at him from across the office.
The ship proved to be quite successful on colder, drier planets. Unfortunately it had a tendency to catch fire when used too near to a sun. ORIGAMIs based on humid planets went soggy after a few months, resulting in several crash landings when the engines fell off.
ORGAMIs were launched from a special vehicle, equipped with a throwing arm. Being Classic Space, these vehicles were steered using joysticks, whilst the spacecraft were controlled using a steering wheel.
