FIU Stadium Panoramic

I took this shot with my Olympus Tough TG-1 iHS in panorama mode. With three consecutive photos, the camera stitches the images together to create one seamless panorama. Sometimes. The system isn't perfect, but when you learn to understand the conditions for optimal use, it's a nice feature to have in a waterproof, dustproof, crushproof, point-and-shoot camera (with a GPS).

The need for additional post-processing after the TG-1's in-camera stitch was a perfect opportunity to try another tool, Photoshop Touch. On my Asus Transformer Infinity, Adobe's latest iteration of Photoshop worked very well. With the ability to clone, heal, warp and use adjustment layers, it's a nice companion for travelers who don't want to be weighed down by the bulk of a laptop.

While powerful, Photoshop Touch is not a replacement for the desktop software. Using this tablet version is like stepping back into the pre-CS days of image editing, so brush up on your pixel-by-pixel cloning skills.

Of particular dissapointment to me was the lack of organizational options. You can't name layers. I use a lot of layers and keeping track of them is important. Similarly the ability to move and rename projects isn't available (Either that or it's so hidden inside the interface I couldn't intuitively figure it out).

Photoshop Touch is more than I expected, but much less than what I'm used to. And that's OK. I don't think anyone expected Adobe to reduce the form factor of their flagship software to tablet size overnight. It's a good start and I'm excited to see how the product evolves from here.
