La géométrie de la rivière

An abstract-ish long exposure shot from the boardwalk down the side of the Loire on the Île de Nantes. It was early evening, a bit before I took the 'Huberts difficult day' shot (see earlier in the stream), and the light was quite nice under the bridge.

I liked the way the low evening sun glanced off the concrete beams and contrasted with the bridge reflections in the water.

Looking at these shots, it seems that the Loire has a strange blue-ish satin-y feel to it - unlike the more muddy and yellowish tones of the Thames. So it's quite nice to photograph.

Nantes is a really interesting city, notable not only for these views, but also the amazing 4-storey mechanical elephant, which trundles up and down the riverside.
