* CAM is the official Ram mascot. The first mascot was in 1947.

* Alumnus William Simpson ('46) won a contest to name the bighorn sheep as the official mascot.

* CAM stands for Colorado A&M, the University's previous name.

* CAM lives at the Agricultural Research, Development and Education Center (ARDEC)

* CAM is a domesticated breed of sheep known as a Rambouillet.

 

Sheep Facts

 

* Sheep have 8 teeth on the bottom of their mouth (and none on the top!).

* Sheep eat alfalfa, hay, grass, corn, oats, and other plants.

* Sheep are ruminants – they have a four compartment stomach.

* Sheep wool is flame retardant.
