Cockermouth castle

We weren’t allowed through the gates

 

The owners live in at least part of it.

Apparently every now and then it’s open to visitors.

A woman in town told us that “us peasants aren’t allowed in”. I detected a bit of animosity.

 

I took the shot with my hands through the wrought iron gates.

 

There’s a notice on the gates telling deliveries to phone one of two numbers, and they’ll come out and open the gates.

 

A beautiful castle from what I could see.
