Erase and rewind
Another reprocessed image which has scrubbed up a bit better after some TLC in Lightroom, all ready for its 40th anniversary....
This one goes back to the 1970s at Newcastle Central when the suburban platforms hadn't yet been converted to a car-park, and when single and double slips proliferated the northern approaches. Here Brush type 4 no. 47053 is seen snaking slowly over the diamond crossings with the Haverton Hill - Leith ammonia tanks (6S41), while Metropolitan Cammell DMUs litter the background, along with a Derby set. The usual class 03 station pilot is there too but, on this day so far as I remember, not doing a whole lot.
In 2016 this view from the Castle Keep is still there but the track layout under "the wires" is barely recognisable. Who wouldn't want to erase and rewind?
