Merry Christmas / Seasons Greetings

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to view, comment or fave my images over what has been another challenging last 12 months for all of us - it's very much appreciated. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday, and my best wishes for a happy, safe and healthy 2022.

This shot was originally uploaded 10 years ago and has had a quick work-out in the virtual darkroom to remove excessive grain and to balance the exposures a little better. The new version might not appeal to everyone but, for me, it's better if maybe no longer quite consistent with the romance of film. Either way it will stand full-screen viewing.

I've left the original upload for the timebeing, although will probably take it down in due course.

The original commentary read:

In the dark grey days of winter any sunny day is a bonus - especially one when there's no need to go earn a living and I can go play with the camera.

Even better that it's the 1st January - the perfect start to the New Year.

Kicking up the snow on New Year's Day '79 is Peak 45147 with a morning Nottingham - London St Pancras train snapped approaching Boots Bridge, Beeston.

The Freightliner Terminal, still in use, can be seen in the background.

My only cabbing of an 8F (at least until I snook a footplate ride at Loughborough one Christmas) took place just here. 48127 was the engine and, having clambered up to the footplate with a couple of mates, I spent the next 5 minutes trying to figure how I was going to get down again with any grace. Unforgettable!
