After the storm

No trains in this shot (unless you count the distant light-engine Peak) but simply intended to capture the sombre yet hopeful mood that often follows a wintry cloudburst.

 

Taken at York, I managed to stay dry under the vast station roof, but couldn't resist attempting a shot of what turned out to be a transient view of the developing light, track reflections, and glow of the colour light signals as the storm clouds moved away.

 

I think the grain adds to the appeal for me, but understand many folk won't be taken with it - in any case given the questionable performance of the 58mm Helios lens, the low light levels, and a clunky mirror mechanism, I was probably more worried about getting a steady (and reasonably exposed) shot at the time.
