Window on Exeter
Having spent the afternoon along the Dawlish / Starcross coastline in a quest to bag a few Western shots, I took to train to Exeter St Davids to round the evening off - after all, with the sun now in the west, there was good opportunity of snapping something against the splendid backdrop of the characterful wooden-clad station building.
Doing a bit of window hanging as the train pulled in to platform 6 I was more than pleasantly surprised to see 1056 "Western Sultan" standing at platform 1 with a parcels working to Plymouth, and a potential conflicting movement with class 33 no. 33026 stood at platform 2 with a passenger train to London Waterloo. The Waterloo was signalled so I kept fingers crossed that a swift dash to platform 2 would prove productive, and I'd bag an uninterrupted shot of 1056 before it too headed off. For once it went to plan.
