Wired for sound
Watched by a few hardy enthusiasts class 47 no. 47402 heads a down ECML express through Grantham station on 20th November 1976.
As can be seen the down platform building and canopy were still intact, and the sidings still seeing use with carriage and some iron ore traffic.
It was only after I scanned this that I noticed Dad carrying what looks like a microphone with a wire leading to his "Nutting Bag" - the latter being a fashion icon of the 70s (or not, depending upon your taste!). I'm guessing the 47 wasn't his preferred quarry though but rather the Deltics. On the other hand he may have been after some Maybach Music seeing as 1023 "Western Fusilier" had passed through earlier with The Western Talisman excursion (see a couple of uploads ago).
