Mountains of the wild

In the Cairngorms the sense of remoteness and wildness is more pronounced than many areas of the British Isles, except perhaps for the North-West Highlands, which are so much more remote and difficult to reach. This photo, taken on the ridge leading to the summit of Braeriach, gives a hint of the primaeval quality of the landscape experience here. Looking upon Garbh Choire and the Lairig Ghru, with Cairntoul on the right, and cloud shrouded Ben Macdhui on the left.
