Intersecting Volumes
Project 1: Intersecting Volumes
Created: Spring 2006
Site: A fictitious area that is 52 square feet. There is 40 square feet of buildable space with a 12 foot drop in terrain that runs from East to West.
Description: A small, medium, and large volume with two additional volumes of any size are given. These volumes were then to be placed in a way that creates space and an interesting procession through the site.
Solution: The volumes are placed in a fashion that creates two courtyards. A larger more public one resides in the front while a more private enclosed courtyard resides in the back. As one moves up in height the volumes become less dense.
