Living Your Last Vegas Midnight — Friday Night/Day Six — The ARC Bar -- The Eiffel Tower and Eiffel Tower Restaurant — The Paris Hotel & Casino — Coronavirus Las Vegas April 2021
Gentlemen -- Do you remember the typical Vegas trips you and your very lovely lady took way back between 1997 and 2005? Of Course you do! Back then, the ARC Bar where you are sitting at right now, sipping frozen Strawberry Margaritas beneath the arches of the soaring Eiffel Tower, used to overlook the Grand Paris Water Fountains. The Paris Fountains were big, but not nearly as big as the Fountains of Lake Bellagio across the street. Back then, the Bellagio Resort & Casino was slightly older than the newly built Paris Hotel & Casino. Back then, the Paris had the second most romantic water fountains on the entire Strip! The Sugar Factory Kitchen & Patio Bar, now the HEXX Kitchen & Bar, hadn't been built yet. You and your very lovely lady were sad when they tore down the Paris water fountains. 😔
You and your very lovely lady would typically fly in on Wednesday, one day in advance of the big national ballroom dance competition. Dance couples from all over the country and from overseas would come to compete. You two would usually have a big dress up dinner either at the steakhouse at Bally's, or at the steakhouse at the Paris, or if the big dance competition was being held at the Luxor, y'all would have dinner at Tender Steak & Seafood. And then after that, you two would seldom make it further than your hotel room and the bathroom. Y'all would arrive at the ballroom around around 8am to begin your freestyle Open-Amateur and Open-Silver Pro-Am dance heats. You two would dance single heats all morning and afternoon, and then dance multi-dance Amateur and Pro-Am heats all night long until the championship heats ended late at night around midnight. Thursdays were reserved for the five American Rhythm dances (Cha-Cha, Rumba, Swing, Bolero, and Mambo). Fridays were reserved for the four American Smooth dances (Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, and Foxtrot). Saturday and Sunday were reserved for the International Ballroom, the International Latin, and the Country & Western freestyle and multi-dance dance heats and championships, and you two were expected to be in the ballroom all day long to support the dance team and your fellow dance couples competing those two days.
Too often you and your very lovely lady didn't make it out of the ballroom until around midnight. But when the day's contests were over, you two would come out here and sit and do what you are doing right now. 🤔
So tonight at nearly midnight of your last night in Vegas, you are busy doing what you and your woman used to do back then more than 20 years ago. You are trying desperately to stop time and recapture the magic you felt during the last five nights of your Fabulous Vegas Vacation. 😔
